The Threshold command divides a color or grayscale image into black and white areas, based on the brightness of each pixel. Pixels that lie at or below the threshold brightness are colored black; those that are above the threshold brightness become white.

Level
The level adjusts the brightness value that a pixel must exceed to be colored white.
